Laura Zucca-Scott

Rusted Tracks

Traveling on rusted tracks
Inhaling heat from a scorching sun
I seek tranquility in Lake Trasimeno’s reflection
And I hear the clangor of a long forgotten battle
Blood staining the once pure waters

I wonder when it will all end
A past insignificant in history’s embrace
Yet unforgettable
Sole tears shed for a person who will never come back
And a child’s smile still waiting
Somewhere
Sometime
