Laura Zucca-Scott

Not Quite Scared

We were running free
On grassy paths
Wind blowing at our faces
Chasing a renegade ball

We did not ask about tomorrow
We did not think of yesterday
Until one fell
Tears stained in mud

We huddled for comfort
Unsure
Not quite scared
Yet
