Old Fortress

Running on the steep hill

Of the old fortress

We painted glory and adventure

Pine needles made the ascent tricky

An occasional scraped knee

Just a badge of courage

We never looked back

As time crumbled the sun scorched walls

Wash Away

Summer days end

With burning fire

And shattering rain

We never knew

Tomorrow’s rage

Would wash away

Sometimes

You hear the thunder

You feel the cold

Deep in your bones

A star is shining

Undefeated by the storm

We all get our breaks

Sometimes
